The Xtreme Vent is mounted on the holding tank vents on the roof of the RV. The vent has an opening in both ends, allowing the air to flow through the vent. The front end of the vent gets smaller and compresses the air. This speeds up the air flow thus creating a Venturi effect on the tanks, sucking out odors and smells. The vent works when the rig is moving and more importantly when parked as there is always air movement, even on a still day. The vent tracks into the wind and even a small amount of air movement will enable the Xtreme Vent to do its job, eliminating the odors from the rig.
The continual suction creates massive air movement in the tanks which provides an oxygen rich environment for the bacteria present in the waste to multiply and do their natural function of decomposing the tissues and solids. This is the same procedure employed by sewage treatment plants around the nation, aerating the waste in order to facilitate decomposition. It does such a great job that many people find they can cut down or eliminate the use of chemicals, saving space and money.
