Here is a Frequently Asked Questions Section (FAQ): Q: How do A-Q Hitching Guides take the hassle out of hitching? A: The reason hitching is a hassle is that you cannot see either of the two objects you are trying to align! These bright orange guides transfer the locations of the two objects—hitch and coupler—into your line of sight. Watch them as you back. You may prefer to use rear view mirror or look directly back—either way works. When guides touch, coupler is directly above ball.
Q: How do the Hitching Guides fasten to the hitch/trailer? Is it a permanent installation, or is it removable? A: Read the following: - Guides are attached magnetically while hitching, then removed for driving.
- Swivel bases permit mounting to horizontal, vertical or angled surface.
- Tube telescopes on rod permitting height adjustment from 30" to 44".
- Aluminum rods can be reshaped as needed for a custom fit.
Q: Do you include easy to understand instructions? A: Yes, you can look at them right now. Click to see either Page 1 or Page 2 of the instruction sheet.
Q: Do I need the extender kit? A: Hitching Guides extend (telescope) from about 30" to about 44" (orange tubes slide on rods). They are designed to adjust for any vehicle from a car to a full-sized pickup. Extender kits provide an additional 10" and are intended for extra tall trucks and RVs. What matters is the distance between hitch and viewable area. To check your vehicle, measure from the hitch to the area you will be able to view. Allow for 4"- 6" of tube to be visible.
Q: Can I use A-Q's with a van, a vehicle with no rear windows or a blocked view? A: Yes. Some vehicles can be backed with the rear door(s) or hatch open. You can also mount the guides horizontally as shown HERE.
Q: What about with Gooseneck Trailers? A: With a gooseneck you don't need to see where your trailer is, you need to see where the hitch ball is behind that toolbox or whatever. The following method works great: - Stick the magnetic bases on the left and right side of the ball.
- The guides each have a 4 inch offset or "jog". Aim both offsets toward the cab of your truck.
- The two guides and the hitch ball now form about a 6" triangle.
- Telescope orange sliders as needed to view from cab.
- Back until gooseneck touches guides.
Q: How can A-Q's help me back with a trailer? A: Trailers can disappear behind your vehicle, but guides attached to trailer fenders will be visible in your side mirrors.
Q: Can Hitching Guides can help with boat loading? Yes. Attach one guide to each fender before backing the trailer into the water. When the trailer disappears under water, the guides will still be visible from the boat.
Q: If I buy these for my husband, will he quit expecting me to miraculously guide him to the trailer while he yells at me? A: Yes. We are 99% certain that once he's tried Align-Quiks he'll never want to see you in the mirrors again! Um, what I mean is, he'll start thinking of you as his friend and soul-mate and regret that he ever subjected you to that kind of emotional trauma.
Q: Are they attractively packaged for gift-giving? A: We think so. (You might want to add a bow.) | | |
